Hi, I'm Suzanne.
I am a personal fitness trainer, coach and educator who believes in providing safe, effective, and enjoyable fitness programming using a variety of “tools” to support specific needs. My goal is to help you determine your current “starting point” then work together to develop a plan. An individualized plan building strong physical foundations which include better balance, functional strength, more endurance, increased agility and function to thrive
in today’s world. These physical elements combined with cutting edge programming will stimulate brain functioning, build confidence and weave in program consistency. I would love to see you continue doing things you LOVE to do, with less pain, better movement and more endurance. From better golf or tennis, to post-knee replacement, addressing nagging lower back issues, or the necessary guidance to make movement matter to you...age is just a number. Don't let age be your determining factor. Get out there! Find a movement plan that works for you and get yourself prepared to live the life you choose!
I have been involved in personal fitness training, coaching and instruction for over 35 years. I have been fortunate to work with a wide variety of abilities meeting with interesting individuals and groups. These experiences have enriched my "fitness toolbox" enabling me to tweak exercises and movements make you successful. I believe in taking small steps that make a difference: building on strengths, shoring up weaknesses, providing a challenge while staying within safe limits. This applies to better nutrition too!
I graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Central Michigan University in Health/Fitnesss (Exercise Science) with hands on experience in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Adult Fitness, internships in Cardiac Rehab (Ann Arbor, MI) and corporate fitness/wellness at SC Johnson Wax (Racine, WI). Upon graduation, my initial fitness career experiences included: Exercise Specialist positions at: Sanibel Harbour Resort (Ft. Myers, FL), Lee Memorial Hospital Wellness Center (Ft. Myers), The Pritikin Center (Miami Beach), Plymouth Fitness Studio (Plymouth, MI), Body Mechanics, Inc. Personal Fitness Training company (co-owner/education director for six years - Livonia, MI).
I attained a Master of Science degree in Secondary Science Education and enjoyed teaching high school Biology and Anatomy & Physiology for several years (Frankfort, IL). I returned to Michigan and instructed and designed courses in the Fitness Leadership degree program at Henry Ford College in the Health and Phys. Ed. Department.
Currently, I work at The Sports Club of Novi as a full time personal fitness trainer and coach, group exercise leader (Active Aging Director), and head coach of the Rock Steady Boxing affiliate designing and instructing fitness/boxing classes for individuals with Parkinson's Disease. I have recently started my business, Get Fit for Aging, LLC, to provide in person and on-line coaching, classes, training and support for my clients.
